The Origin and History of the Canaan Dog

The Canaan Dog is an ancient breed from the Middle East, where they were used by the Israelites to guard and guard flocks of sheep until the second century when the Romans drove them out. As the Hebrew population dwindled, the dogs sought refuge in the Negev Desert, (1) an Israeli wildlife reserve.

There, they were able to save themselves from extinction, but there was a problem: losing contact with humans made them “wild”, and independent, doing everything in their power to get food for themselves and their families. Were. But that gradually changed, some of them lived close to Bedouin tribes for survival and even guarded herds and farms.

The refugee settlements of Israelites during the 1930s required a guard dog that could survive in harsh conditions. Once again, the Canaanite dog can once again be an indispensable companion for humans. Today it is considered the guardian dog of the Bedouin tribes and in addition, it is the national dog of Israel. Canaan dog care

A Canaan dog breed is an animal that you have to feed exclusively with food made from meat and/or fish. It is best to give him a barf diet if you can, but it is highly recommended that you consult a veterinary nutritionist to make sure he is not missing anything.  (5)

A great alternative to ice is the yam diet, which looks like minced meat but has everything your dog needs. But so is grain-free feed.

As she has short hair, it will be enough if you comb it regularly once a week. Also, if you notice that it gets very dirty you can give it a bath, but don’t do it too often. In fact, you can only shower once a month to ensure that your skin remains completely healthy.

It is an ideal breed for active people, as it loves sports. Going out for a walk every day, to explore the world beyond your home, will make you feel great, especially if you have the opportunity to walk around, for example, at a dog park.

Being an ancient breed that has not been “manipulated” by humans, it is in very good health. Still, we need to know that we must provide all the care you need so that you can live many happy years. In addition, the furry must receive vaccines, and the microchip has to be implanted. The latter is mandatory in various countries such as Spain.

Especially because it is not yet a very well-known breed, when puppies are on sale, they usually have a high price of 1000-1200 euros.
